Managing Stress and Marriage Conflicts

Marital conflicts are influenced by a stressful life. However, we can’t complain of stress since as long as we live we will always be exposed to it. You can just either increase your tolerance to it or avoid or minimize stress.

Projection

This is a defense mechanism that you may be abusing these past few days. It means directing your anger or frustration to another person or object. Your partner may be complaining of why you always wear a frowning face when you get home from work. Remember, whatever conflicts you had with your boss or subordinates, your partner has nothing to do with it.

Channel Your Emotions

When you channel the negative energies you get from work, you can do it by venting out with your partner. In this way, he or she may understand your behavior and respect the space you need. Also, your family may know that you need to rest and relax at the moment. You must realize that your partner does not deserve the blame or your bad temper rather he or she can be your counselor who can give you the comforting you need. Remember that the key to a lasting relationship is open communication.

Let Things Pass

A type A personality may be a culprit to getting too much amount of stress. Your perfectionist attitude may be making things hard on you. You may be irritated with the sight of toys scattered on the floor of your living room or complain why the vegetable on your dish is overcooked. You just have to let things pass. Noticing almost everything in the household may ignite a conflict between you and your partner who may be as stressed out as you are during the day. This may also be a way of projecting your frustrations at work which may be unfair to your partner.

Manage Stress

Since stress can be a root of marital conflicts it is vital you manage them. How can you handle stress well? Through getting adequate rest and shunning unnecessary activities like partying late at night with friends you can get the vitality you need for the demands of everyday life. You must know your priority and you must understand that rest is what you need at the moment. However, you also need time for yourself to enjoy. You just have to remember not to do it often that may affect your level of performance at work and leave you with a temperamental attitude when you get home from the office.

Emotional Bonding

You and your partner definitely deserve some time together out of your busy schedule. This may be a good way to relax. Time is very important to nurture the relationship. You must always think of your partner and not just work, work and work. Both of you have needs. A time spent together may allow you to communicate and to raise certain concerns or problems you have in the family. This may help in avoiding future conflicts or misunderstandings. Invite your partner for a date. Bring with you your children for a picnic and call a Sunday a family day.

Vegetable Detox 101

There are many ways to detoxify or eliminate unwanted substances or toxins in the body. There are synthetic preparations that can be used to enable this process. However, many medical experts advocate the use of natural detoxification like the use of fruits and vegetables.

Vegetable Detoxification

You were told by your mother to eat spinach and the like. However, even the sight of them discourages you to even try. In school you were taught of the health benefits you can get from veggies and today, science tells you that they do wonders in eliminating metabolic wastes and preventing diseases.

How Long

You must decide on the number of days you are to perform this detox diet. However, doing it for three days is enough to cleanse the colon. The next time you do it, you can increase the duration to 5 days. You just have to remember not to exceed ten days if you have not sought for medical advice on this one.

Expected Discomforts

Detoxification is not a comfortable experience at first. During the days of detox, you can experience headaches, fatigue, loose bowel movement and even body odor. You must not worry about these since they are part of vegetable detoxification. It may be more convenient for you if you can stay at home by having a break from work or school. These discomforts may alter your level of activity.

Preparations Prior to Vegetable Detox

Gradually cut down on your intake of red meat, fried foods, fats, sodas and pasta a week prior starting out with the process. Also, quit alcohol intake, smoking and control sugar in your diet. These may help you avoid discomforts during detox such as body malaise, stomach upset and other symptoms.

Basic Rules in Detox

You must know basic rules in a vegie detox diet. This may help you enjoy the health benefits this plan promises everyone. Chew the vegetables thoroughly and slowly since this allows the body to easily digest the greens you take. Prior and after a meal, take some rest. This prepares the body for food digestion. Aside from eating vegetables, enjoy several cups of herbal tea that is free from caffeine. This allows your colon to get rid of the wastes easily.

The Vegetables to Take

Choose organic and fresh vegetables. When you say organic, these are naturally grown vegetables without the use of artificial means such as the use of sprays and fertilizers. Beets, cauliflower, broccoli sprouts, onions, garlic, green leafy vegetables and even the red ones are helpful in the process of detox. It is important that the peels on your veggie are left since nutrients are found in high concentration near its surface.

Eat liberal amounts of these vegetables during detox. You may use lemon juice or vinegar on your salads. However, oil and dressing are not allowed.  You might want to enjoy some soup during dinner yet try to take raw vegetables during detox diet. They contain enzymes necessary to allow your body detoxify. If you take vegetable soup, make sure you finish including the liquid part of it since it contains the substances from the veggies.

Quitting Smoking Made Easier: Ways To Fight Cravings

Millions of people in the world smoke. They all know its risks to the health. A lot of people have died from lung cancer, heart disease and respiratory diseases. With the number of deaths resulting from smoking, smokers have the strong urge to stop. The problem is not the will to stop but the challenge to resist the act, manage cravings and avoid relapse.

Here are ways to boost your resistance to quit smoking. It’s a big challenge to face but once you’ve overcome smoking, it’s all worth it.

  • Quitting smoking can be done in several ways. Others may prefer quitting cold turkey. It’s done instantly without weaning or tapering down smoking. Others prefer in a
gradual basis. If you smoke one pack a day, you decrease it to half for a week, then half again the next week until you’re down to zero. Find which way would work for you best.
  • Stop buying several packs. Once you’ve decided to quit smoking, stay away from several supplies because you’ll just consume them when you see them.
  • Definitely, you’ll be facing cravings on your way. You need to find solution and activities to stay you away from smoking. When the craving sets in, you can take a walk in a park, beach or mall. This will ward your mind away from smoking. Others may be relieved from drinking a glass of cold water or chewing a gum. Play with your kids or pets for you to forget the craving. Being busy can get you out from the idea of smoking. Do chores or do hobbies to keep your mind off your bad habit.
  • When you’ve come to a point that you really crave for it, nicotine gum can help relieve the craving. This is just an instant gratification and shouldn’t be used daily.
  • Inform your friends, colleagues and family members that you’re quitting smoking. They can help you with your big leap and would understand what you’re going through. If they smoke, they would be considerate to stay away from you to keep you from relapsing.
  • When you experience a relapse, forgive yourself. Don’t think you’re a total failure. You can always start again towards a healthier living. Remember that other smokers have more than 10 relapses but were successful in the end.
  • Avoid boredom and being idle. As they say, an idle mind is a ground to do evil things. Always find something to do. When you’re bored, all you can think of will be to smoke. Read a good book, call someone whom you can talk to. Wash your car, cook a good food or meet up with your friends.
  • Avoid smoking areas. This way, you can prevent yourself from smoking too.
  • All these will help you to finally stop smoking. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been smoking for several years or how many sticks you consume in a day. The most important thing is you’ve made the right choice to stop it and give importance to your health. You’re not only promoting good health to yourself but to your family and the people around you. Once you’ve quit earlier, the risk to acquire smoke-related diseases has dropped significantly low.

What You Need To Know About Marriage Conflicts and Children

Are you often having bouts with your partner? You may be unaware but your children may be hearing you argue like barking dogs fighting over a piece of bone. Whatever your children see and hear affect their development and influence their way of thought. Small misunderstandings need to be settled the soonest possible time since they may turn into conflicts that can affect both couple and even children.

Broken Families

Today there are many cases of broken families. Most of these are due to the emotional immaturity on both partners. If you, the parents, are not mature enough, how can your children have a role model of wisdom and maturity? The worst thing that can happen in a family is when you decide to divorce because you can’t handle the conflicts anymore.

The Effects of Marital Conflicts to Your Children

Who are affected by marriage conflicts? Aside from you and your partner, your children are greatly affected by such destructive situation. Children seek comfort from their parents and need their presence during their developmental years. When they see you fight, it may be a painful sight for them to witness how their loved ones hurt each other with cursing words.

Such situation may cause emotional disturbances to your children. This is a stressful situation for them. They may not be able to perform well in school and have developmental problems due to a troubled family relationship that you and your partner established.

Children from a Healthy Family Relationship

Studies show that children from good families are healthier and are able to perform academically in schools. This is because these children are raised up in a home that is free from unnecessary stress brought about by a troubled marital relationship. This is why it is important that whatever conflicts between you and your wife or husband must be settled in the soonest possible time.

You must understand that you are not the only ones affected by these conflicts. Your children are your responsibility. Being responsible parents means providing a home for your children to grow to be healthy individuals.

Marriage Counseling

You may think that it is impossible to settle the conflicts you have with your partner. This is because you have allowed these to be repressed than bringing them up to be talked about and settled. Open communication is vital in every relationship. If you keep the hurts within you, you may flare up and ignite a conflict in the future.

Today, experts in marriage counseling can offer you services that may help you in dealing with conflicts. Through therapies such as open communication and settling conflicts, you may regain the love and trust that have long been overshadowed by marital problems. However, you can find counselors among your friends and your parents. Someone who is outside of your situation who can share with you their time and wisdom can help you in dealing with the problems of marriage.

If you seek for counseling or when you do efforts to save your relationship, you are also saving your children from undue stress and threats to their normal development.

What Everybody Ought To Know About Fruit Detoxification

Detoxification allows the body to get rid of toxins that come from the food you take, from the environment and other chemicals and substances it is exposed to. These toxins accumulate through poor diet and may cause the clogging of the blood vessels and bones. This is one of the many reasons you must detoxify from time to time.

The Colon

The main function of the large intestines is to get rid of the unusable particles of food and eliminate metabolic wastes. If the colon is clean and free from these toxins, you may experience state of good health. When congested diseases and problems may arise. You may be able to have a regular bowel movement yet there may be residues in your colon.

Toxicity

Researchers trace the development of diabetes, cancer, arthritis, heart disease to the build-up of toxins in the body. These health conditions are degenerative diseases that come with aging. Even premature aging is linked to toxicity. Cellulite development may also happen due to deposition of fats on body parts. Understanding Emphysema: Disease of Smokers

Addiction occurs in people who can’t control themselves regarding a certain act. Among the many addictions, the most common is smoking. Smoking has been practiced by billions of people in the world and the majority are men. With these, lung diseases occur. Emphysema is one condition that is attributed to smoking. Several smokers experience this after a long time of smoking.

What is Emphysema

Emphysema is a long term disease of the lungs involving the alveoli. The alveoli are the air sacs found in the lung responsible for the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide. When these parts are damaged, oxygen exchange is affected restricting oxygen supply to the various parts of the body. People with emphysema experience difficulty of breathing. With acute attacks, they suffer a lot because their respiration is affected.

How does it develops

Emphysema is generally caused by smoking. When a person smokes, the toxins found in the smoke causes inflammation in the lungs. The bronchioles, airways and sacs also become inflamed. This lead to the formation of proteases that destroy the walls of the alveoli. With continued smoking, more alveoli are affected and destroyed. Not all people who smoke experience emphysema but smokers increase their risk of acquiring this disorder.

How do they feel

Persons affected with emphysema usually cough. Aside from developing smoker’s cough due to chronic cigarette smoking, the cough is also brought by the irritation to the alveoli. Emphysema is mainly characterized by shortness of breath. Even with little activity or exercise, they would be out of breath. If smoking still continues, it would just make the condition worse. As the disease progresses, difficulty of breathing may be prominent even at rest. This is a debilitating disease because it would generally restrict living a quality life as the person ages. When you look at persons with emphysema, you would notice that they have barrel chest. Their back and chest have the same proportions. This look is a compensatory mechanism. They lean forward to breathe more easily.

Management of Emphysema

The only way to deal with emphysema is to stop further destruction of the alveoli. Early as now, it’s better to quit smoking. If emphysema already has developed, you have no cure. Lung damage is already permanent with chronic smoking. Prevention is the only way to avoid it. For managing shortness of breath, oxygen supplementation is being done. Oxygen supply should be 2-3 lpm only. Higher than 3 liters is dangerous for patients affected with emphysema since their drive to breathe will be gone. Bronchodilators can help widen the airways to allow more air to go inside the lungs. This will help relieve shortness of breath. Corticosteroids can help control inflammation. Persons with emphysema are more likely to get lung infections. When infection occurs, antibiotics will help relieve the cough.

There’s not turning back when you develop emphysema. Now that you don’t suffer from chronic lung diseases, stop smoking and think about your health. No one wants to suffer in the later years. No person dies from emphysema but the complication it brings. When breathing becomes a problem, the whole body is affected. Take care of your lungs and you’ll be decreasing your risk for lung problems as you age.

Health at Home: You are What You Eat

Eating properly sustains your body with needed nutrients in order to ward your body away from sickness and diseases. It insures that your body is working properly, allowing it to grow and develop as you advance in years. I know that this has been reiterated from a lot of health articles already but it bears repeating. Eating healthy is half the battle that insures that you live a long and fulfilled life.

Although people tend to look to supplements for their daily dose of vitamins and minerals, our body needs more natural sources if they want to grow at a better rate. If you’re going for a fit frame, this can significantly help you grow more in terms of muscle development while trimming your waist.

Our Body Takes What it Needs

In nutritional terms, our body takes what it needs to operate so you don’t exactly have to overdo taking up vitamins everyday so you could be healthier. Although our body has the ability to produce chemicals to prolong its existence, we still need specific vitamins and minerals in order to be healthy. For example, our body has the innate ability to produce vitamin D but in order to do so it needs to be exposed to sunlight.

Vitamin deficiencies can manifest in different ways, sometimes subtle and sometimes in obvious terms. If you have tendency to be tired all the time, then that could very well be a symptom of malnutrition. Our body needs only basic elements of vitamins, proteins and carbohydrates to exist but fitness demands you to address your vitamin deficiencies if you want to improve.

Fixing Up a Balanced Diet

Balanced diets are an adequate term that nutritionists use to refer to a diet that has all the needs your body requires to survive as well as trace minerals and vitamins that allow it to be stronger and more resistant to disease.

But what takes a good and balanced diet you ask? Well, you can mix it up from time to time but you need to have the core foods. Vitamin K can be found in most green and leafy vegetables, so as long as you have an acceptable amount of lettuce or celery on your everyday diet, you’ll do fine. Vitamin A sources are also easier to find; you just need to look for orange or red colored vegetables such as tomatoes or bell peppers. Although we can get our daily allotment from vitamin D through sunlight exposure, we can also get it from juice concentrate and fortified milk.

Supplements

Okay, I know I’ve discouraged the use of supplements earlier but they only exist as…well, supplements. We may have our daily diets to help deter deficiencies but it might not be enough to complete your daily dose, hence the need of supplements to insure we get the full spectrum of other vitamins. Remember though, although these supplements contain essential vitamins too, they are not enough to fulfill your quota for the day, so stick to a balanced diet with supplements and you’ll do fine.

Wellness for Men: Diabetes In the Spotlight

Men would also be susceptible to different diseases around the environment. This is because of the fact males could also be careless of how they could spend their day and how they maintain a healthy lifestyle. Because of this, early learning about diseases would be a better option for them. Instead of being surprised that they are affected by a common disease, they should at least learn the way females do. It is quite bothersome for males to be lectured but it is the best way possible for prevention. In the end, it is certain that males would accept learning than being bedridden in the future.

There are too many diseases that males should be concerned about. If you have a certain history of a physical condition in your family, you could at least focus on that condition. But if you haven’t traced any sickness to be bothered about, you could simply focus on the most threatening diseases for males first, such as diabetes. You should know that this condition is relatively growing into a more life-threatening disease. Accept the fact that soon, there would be worse symptoms that could await you.

In order to prevent this common condition, you should find the right ways of avoiding it as early as possible with certain changes in your healthy lifestyle, such as the following:

Moderate Drinking of Beer

It has been studied that moderate drinking would help reduce the risks of type 2 diabetes. But this does not mean that you can already abuse this tip for too long. Don’t ever think of making your protection better by drinking more beer. Keep in mind that the word used to describe the type of drinking you should practice is moderate. Moreover, you should keep in mind that knocking off a disease is always by moderation and control.

Tea Power

It has been studied that tea is another drink that could help fight diabetes. Tea has a content that could fight diabetes. This content is called the polysaccharides, which is a carbohydrate that could help you control the levels of blood glucose. Blood glucose tends to vary abnormally when it comes to diabetes. Also, these carbohydrates would also give you protection from free radicals that could damage your skin and promote diseases like arthritis and cancer. Choose black tea for the better.

Exercising Effectively

You should always provide moderation and right conduct of anything. In terms of exercise, you should not prefer the heavy workout. Make it possible to create intervals of rest as well as divisions of exercises per minute. This would certainly reduce your risks of diabetes.

Eat Broccoli and Grapefruit

These foods would contain the nutrients you need to fight against diabetes. These foods would naturally be composed of chromium, which would help maintain the natural levels of blood glucose in your body.

These preventive tips for diabetes in men would certainly provide you better results. Instead of focusing on the medicines, be natural as possible, for nutrients found in natural foods are much better compared to chemical-processed ones.

Issues that Trigger Marriage Conflicts

Being in a cycle of conflicts within a marriage is something you never want to live with. This is an often stressful situation not only on your part as couples but for your children as well. It affects your way of life and it destroys relationships and end up with broken families.

Here are issues that may ignite a conflict between you and your spouse. These are often the reasons behind the arguments that happen within your home:

Trust Issues

A healthy relationship must be grounded in mutual trust. When you have faith on your partner, it eliminates doubt which can cause conflict between couples. Infidelity is often an issue among married individuals. Through assuring your partner of your love and devotion, you are preventing marriage conflicts.

Pride

A rivalry between couples may exist and this can have something to do with power or authority and money issues. There exists a standard in the society that a man must be the bread winner of the family. However, women of today are more empowered and excel well in various fields of expertise making them earners for the family as well. Assure your partner that whatever you have and earn is for both of you and the children and whatever you have invested becomes a conjugal property.

Other than money issues, you may be threatened by the authority that your partner has in the home. He or she may be implementing rules in the household especially among children that may also affect you and hurt your pride at times. Through understanding the situation and not letting your ego function at all times, you may avoid conflicts to rise.

Lack of Communication

You know that it is vital to be able to communicate your feelings and bring up your concerns that settle every conflict between couples. You may be tolerant with the hurts and pains you get in the relationship and tend to keep them inside of you. What can happen is you may flare up in the future and can lose control of your emotions when you feel you are pushed too hard.

All problems can be settled with a good talk. Through this you can both end up with a “win-win” solution to your problems. In a conflict, either you or your partner must know to compromise for the better good which is the resolution of the marriage conflicts.

Responsibilities

You may be complaining of the loads of work you have for your family. You may get tired of all the household chores from cleaning the house up to changing your child’s nappies. Talk to your partner. It is always good to have a fair distribution of responsibilities. It is not that you count and complain about the things you do for the family but rather it is a way to avoid exhaustion.

Responsibilities in the family may be overwhelming and both couples are expected to divide these so that no one is left behind with greater tasks. Remember to care for each other’s health. Your partner’s good is your responsibility as well.

Detoxify with Water

You know that we must take at least 8 glasses of water a day. Are you taking that required intake of water? Most of us may say no. With sodas, coffee, teas and even alcoholic drinks, you are not taking the enough water which is recommended for good health. Some drinks that we replace water with are diuretics or those that make us lose the fluid reserves of the body.

Dehydration

If you take less water than what is recommended per day, you may be placing yourself in a state of dehydration. When this happens problems may arise. Your organs may not be getting enough fluids that they need plus electrolyte imbalance may set in which can be fatal. Some symptoms of chronic dehydration that you may be experiencing are headache, sore neck and fatigue.

Water and Diseases

In Chinese medicine, they believe that the body is under “heat” when you lack water. This may predispose you to having ulcers and even biting the tongue while eating. This is an old belief yet is there truth behind this traditional medicine?

A researcher named Dr. Batmanghelidj explained the harmful things that may happen on you due to dehydration. In his researches, arthritis, increased bp, back pain, colitis, migraines, heartburn and asthma are linked with poor hydration. He believes that water activates and energizes the body. According to him, if you don’t get enough of it, bodily functions may suffer.

Water Detox

Detoxification is a process of eliminating toxins in the body that may cause diseases. There are many ways to detoxify such as through taking fruits and veggies. Water itself can serve your body with detoxification properties that it has. It can flush out metabolic wastes that accumulate in your bloodstream and in the colon. They say prevention is better than cure and detoxifying regularly through taking enough fluids in your body may help you prevent diseases.

What are the Health Benefits of Water Detox?

The principle of detoxification with water is taking enough fluids to dilute toxins or metabolic wastes. Also it aims to provide you with enough water to fuel the normal body processes. Getting enough of this in your system may also help regulate its temperature. If the body is in a febrile state, oxygenation of organs may be compromised.

Your joints also rely on the amount of water in the body for lubrication. Nutrition or the transport of vitamins, minerals, hormones and other chemical substances to your body tissues also depends on your hydration. Metabolic wastes including fats both in your colon and those in the circulation need to be cleared out through hydrating your body.

The brain is an organ composed of 85% water. Aside from this, it is protected by the cerebrospinal fluid that makes this organ float inside your skull. Also, this fluid also covers the spinal cord for protection.

Make Drinking Water a Habit

You may complain about going to the restroom often due to drinking more water. However, it is your body’s mechanism to get rid of disease-causing toxins. Also, you must understand how important water is not only with its detoxifying properties but also its importance for your bodily processes.
